Rostering Example

Raid Slots Available
Each person signed up for a raid will be assigned a rostering roll; a number (0-1000]. The list of raiders will be sorted by each player's roll. Each spot, from most specific to least specific, will be filled from the highest rolling character able to perform the duties of that spot that is not yet on the roster.
In general, devoting 20-30 talent points to the activity in question (dps, healing) is enough to qualify for a given role. However, there are a few exceptions:
- Tanks need to have pure tanking builds. Tank/DPS or tank/healer hybrid builds will be chosen only if no pure builds are available.
- DPS priests need to have at least 41 points in shadow (Vampiric Embrace and Vampiric Touch are required).
The roster template below is just an example. Actual rosters will be tailored to the content, if stacking the raid is needed (more DPS, more off-tanks, whatever).
One each (fixed class slots)
- Tanks: Warrior, Druid, Paladin
- Healers: Priest, Druid, Paladin, Shaman
- DPS: Warrior, Shaman, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Mage, Warlock
Every pure DPS class gets one fixed slot, everyone else gets two.
Pick two of the following (flexible class slots)
- Physical DPS x2: Rogue, Hunter
- Magical DPS x2: Mage, Warlock
- Healers x2: Priest, Druid, Paladin, Shaman
Pure DPS classes pick up an extra slot, while healers get 0.5 on average. At this point, the raid will have on average:
- 2x Warriors, Rogues, Hunters, Mages, Warlocks (10 total)
- 2.5x Priests, Druids, Paladins, Shaman (10 total)
- 3x Tanks
- 6x Healers
- 11x DPS
Pick any 5 players, at the discretion of the raid leader
The raid leader can use any criteria to select the remaining 5 raid members. This is generally used for stacking purposes, but can also be used for situations where we need to bring in characters who are not in the guild, etc. If any of the above slots are not filled (only one priest shows up, etc.), then any unfilled slots become discretionary. If the raid leader switches a main out for an alt (or vice versa), the spot left behind also becomes discretionary.
Lacking a compelling reason to do otherwise, the raid leader should generally endeavor to fill the raid with high rolling players.
