Guild Bank

There are a number of free-for-all tabs in the guild bank. These are for items that are useful to the guild in general. Anyone can deposit or retrieve items (up to 999 stacks per day - essentially unlimited), and guild members are encouraged to do so. Members are expected to balance withdrawals and contributions such that the guild bank doesn't slowly empty over time. General guidelines:

  1. Enchanting materials are freely available to enchant your gear; just ask an officer for a withdrawal.
  2. Don't sell the stuff.
  3. Don't make something to sell (in the case of tradeskill materials).
  4. Don't use tradeskill items for reputation turnins.
  5. Don't use the stuff just to grind out a tradeskill.

A good rule of thumb is that whatever you're doing with the item, it should increase a guild member's effectiveness on a raid.

FFA Random

  • Consumables (potions, oils, flasks)
  • Darkmoon cards
  • Skillbooks

FFA Tradeskills

  • One stack of each cloth, uncommon gem, ore, useful herb, etc.
  • Patterns, schematics, etc.

Enchanting

Note that the enchanting tab is not FFA. Given the high gold value of the items contained in this tab, only officers can withdraw items from this tab. Members have access to enchanting materials free of charge (just ask any officer to retrieve the item for you), however the tab is restricted so that if someone's account is compromised, the damage that can be done to the guild bank is limited. Please keep to the sorting pattern when depositing materials from 5-man runs, etc. Once placed, normal members cannot move items in this tab.

Donations

This tab is for things of value that are being donated to the guild. Epic patterns, epic BoE world drops, stacks of Solid Stars, etc. It is also used as a temporary storage space for the AH. Like with the enchanting tab, this tab is restricted to officer withdrawal only.

Items on the right side of this tab will be sold on the auction house by the guild bank (mostly Pinski on AHTheory). Items on the left will be considered by an officer before moving to the appropriate place.

Alts, Shared Accounts, etc.

In general, members are encouraged to have any alternate characters join Game Theory. This is not required - alts can be part of social guilds, twink PvP guilds, etc. However, we expect that Game Theory is a member's "main guild" - membership in another guild should not interfere with raid attendance, etc.

If an account or character is shared between multiple people (one of the few WoW ToS violations we don't feel breaks rule zero), and one or more of those people are not Game Theory members, then those characters should be unguilded. The only people who should have access to Game Theory guild chat should be game theory members. Also, the FFA tabs of the guild bank are for members only.

Rostering and Attendance

For each raid, the raid leader will specify a set of classes/roles needed for the raid to be a success. They can be specific, such as "tanking druid" or general like "healer" and "melee dps." Players will indicate interest in the raid by signing up for the raid using the DKP site. 24 hours before the scheduled start time of the raid, each player will be given a random number, 1-1000, which will act as their rostering priority. Certain bonuses will apply to this number. Each spot, from most specific to least specific, will be filled from the highest rolling character able to perform the duties of that spot that is not yet on the roster. At times, the raid leader may have a player bring a different character (an alt) than the one that was enrolled on the roster. While doing so will be kept to a minimum, members should be prepared for the occasional night of raiding on a character they didn't think they would be bringing.

Please see the Rostering Example to see the system in action.

Required Addons

Please make sure that you have all of the Required Addons installed and working before joining any Game Theory raid.

Availability vs. Attendance

A guild member is considered "available" for a raid if they sign up for the raid at least 24 hours in advance, and are online and alert at the time that invites are sent. Note that this does not mean that the player needs to be invited - simply indicating willingness to raid, and making oneself available to the raid leader is enough to qualify. Those not invited are expected to wait until the raid is full before logging off.

Obviously, anyone invited to the raid who then participates is considered available as well. If a player is unexpectedly forced to leave the raid earlier than the stopping time, then the determination of availability will be made by the raid leader.

Arriving Late / Leaving Early

The raid calendar will have a area to indicate a late arrival. Players should use it to indicate when they will not be online at the raid start time, or when they will have to leave the raid before it is scheduled to end.

Ventrilo

Game Theory uses Ventrilo while raiding. All raid members are required to log in and listen while raiding; instructions will be communicated verbally. In general, raid members are expected to be able to speak as well (this means using headphones, a microphone, and having a low level of background noise). Pullers, main tanks and raid leaders will always need to be able to speak.

The Game Theory venty server uses the Speex codec, and hence works with the Mac/OSX client.

Epix, OMG

This doesn't apply to just epics, but all loot.

Priority For Items

In general, loot priority is determined by the Loot System.

BoP gear that drops that isn't part of the loot system will be need-rolled or DEd. BoEs are need-rolled, or sent to the bank. In general, the guild bank collects all greens that drop in raid instances to be DEd and sent to the guild bank to help fund guild enchants, flasks, etc.

Patterns, Plans, Skill Books, etc.

Tradeskill patterns are need-rolled by the characters present for the drop. To qualify, the character must have sufficient skill level to learn the pattern on the spot. If the pattern is BoP and there are no characters present who can learn the pattern, then any character present with the appropriate tradeskill who will reach the required skill level eventually may roll for the pattern (in other words, transmute mules don't count). If the pattern is BoE and there are no characters present who can learn it, then the pattern goes to the guild bank to be need-rolled by those who can learn it, or to wait for the first character who can.

Note that if you take a BoE pattern, it shouldn't be learned until you are actually ready to craft the item - if you get a better item before you are finished collecting the mats, the BoE pattern should be given to the guild bank.

Skill books are handled the same way as BoE patterns.

Raid ID Policy

Non-<GT> members are not allowed to enter <GT> raid IDs without officer/raid leader permission (permission is not hard to get, but we need to be aware of who is doing what). This is especially true for instances with unfinished content left in them, even if there are no official plans for the guild to enter that instance again before it resets.

Mains are not allowed to have raid IDs that conflict with <GT> loot or learning runs without prior permission. Alts and farm runs are more flexible, but in general you should always have at least one character able to raid any instance we might enter that week.

If you're going to run in a non-<GT> raid on a regular basis, be sure to inform guild leadership. We don't want to confuse helping another guild out with an unannounced application to them.

Exit Policy

Leaving isn't a sin. The game evolves, the guild evolves, and sometimes it's just time to move on. Here is what we expect of our members when that time comes:

If you're going to quit the game for good, a heads-up note on the forums lets us know we don't need to keep the light on for you, and can recruit to fill your position.

If you're leaving for another guild, we'd like a week's notice, especially if your class roster is tight already. Discuss things with an officer, and we'll try and get you raiding with your new home as soon as possible. Working with us will get you a positive note from guild leadership on your app.

However, if you app to another guild without notice (not telling us first), you will be /gkicked and the rule violation will be conveyed to the guild you are applying to.

If you're deeply negative in DKP, you should attempt to zero out the balance before you depart.

Once you announce your intention to leave, your loot priority drops below alts.
