Festergut
From Game Theory
Normal
- Health: 9.4m (10-player); 40.4m (25-player).
- Special Abilities: Vile Gas, Gas Spore, Pungent Blight, Gastric Bloat
- Composition: 10-player: 2 tanks, 3 healers, 5 DPS; 25-player: 2 tanks, 6 healers, 17 DPS.
- Positioning: Tanked in the center of the room, with a minimum of players at range. Ranged spread out along a semicircle in the eastern half of the room.
Festergut hits hard and fast, and the enrage timer is short. Use damage-increasing cooldowns early and often. Positioning, movement, and economy of movement are very important.
Healers should gear for throughput. In 25-player, mana regeneration buffs should already be covered, so it is unlikely you will end up totally OOM (all your cooldowns and potions used) before the end of the fight unless you are gratuitously wasteful.
Tanks switch at 8 stacks of Gastric Bloat. If you are not the current tank and you still want to do damage, keep a close eye on your threat.
Vile Gas is cast approximately every 30 seconds (10-player) or 10 seconds (25-player). You need a minimum of 3 (10-player) or 8 (25-player) at range to bait Vile Gas. Humans may use Every Man For Himself to break out of it. Other races in DPS roles may wish to carefully consider the DPS loss of equipping a PvP trinket versus its utility, the chance to get Vile Gas, and total damage output of the raid. Ranged must be at least 8 yards apart, but along the tightest semicircle around the boss they can manage. If you are assigned to be at range, your chances of never being hit by Vile Gas during the course of the fight are very slim.
Proper Gas Spore handling via positioning and movement is the key to surviving this fight. Players with Gas Spores will get raid markers. Sometimes the RNG will position them poorly; here's how to handle it. You must be aware of where all the Gas Spores are to know how to move. The current tank is always exempt from moving; the other tank should move in accordance with the below if there will not soon be a tank switch. Be prepared to use survival cooldowns if a tank healer has to move.
- 10-player, both at range: Skull runs in, all other ranged run to the meeting point.
- 10-player, one at range: ranged move to the meeting point.
- 10-player, both in melee: Skull moves east, all ranged move there. If Skull is the current tank, X moves instead.
- 10-player, both in melee, current tank and a tank healer: In this worst-case scenario, the tank healer runs east. Use survival cooldowns.
The meeting point in 10-player is in the east portion of the room ("3 o'clock").
- 25-player, three at range, lop-sided: Skull runs into melee; ranged on the spore-free side also run into melee.
- 25-player, three at range, even: The mark in the middle runs into melee; other ranged go to the closer meeting points.
- 25-player, two at range, lop-sided: Ranged on the spore-free side run into melee; others move to the closer meeting point.
- 25-player, two at range, even: Ranged move to the closer meeting point.
- 25-player, one at range: Ranged on the spore-free side run into melee; others move to the closer meeting point.
- 25-player, none at range: Skull runs northeast, X runs southeast. Ranged move to the closer meeting point. If Skull or X is the current tank, third mark runs instead.
- 25-player, none at range, current tank and a tank healer: In this worst-case scenario, the tank healer moves northeast, the other mark moves southeast. Use survival cooldowns.
The meeting points in 25-player are in the northeast and southeast portions of the room ("1:30" and "4:30").
